Product Introduction
Heavy shear tension control bolts, factory-finished in black oxide, for structural steel connections requiring calibrated preload. The bolt assembly comprises a heavy hexagon head, a torque-off spline tip, and matching nut and washer. Spline fracture during installation provides direct visual confirmation that the specified bolt tension has been achieved, eliminating the need for field torque inspection.

Material & Mechanical Properties
Forged from premium-grade medium carbon alloy steel, quenched and tempered to meet high-strength structural bolting requirements. Tensile strength, proof load, and yield properties are certified per heat lot. The material and heat treatment ensure consistent clamping force and structural integrity under static, cyclic, and impact loading.

Tension Control & Installation
A calibrated shear wrench engages the nut and spline simultaneously. When the design preload is reached, the spline twists off. This mechanism prevents thread stripping, galling, and over-torque. Visual absence of the spline confirms correct installation, speeding erection and quality assurance.

Surface Protection
The black oxide finish provides a uniform dark appearance and moderate atmospheric corrosion resistance. The coating permits the bolt to perform reliably in outdoor and harsh environments where unprotected fasteners degrade, while maintaining a clean, professional finish.
