DIN 976 Hot Dip Galvanized Threaded Rod – Fully threaded rod manufactured to DIN 976 (formerly DIN 975), typically form A with right-hand metric ISO thread. Material carbon steel per ISO 898-1 with property classes 4.8 and 8.8. Hot dip galvanized finish provides outdoor corrosion protection with C3 classification and coating thickness 45–50 µm. Pre‑coating thread tolerance 6AZ (undersize) ensures ISO compliance after galvanizing for compatibility with 6H tolerance hot dip galvanized nuts. Oversized variant available with pre‑coating 6g tolerance for use with 6AZ tapped nuts. Lengths typically 1–3 meters, diameters M6–M45. Applications: anchoring, embedding in concrete, mechanical construction, outdoor structural connections, and corrosion‑resistant bolting systems. Compatible with 140 HV minimum washers for class 4.8 and 200 HV for class 8.8.

Product Introduction
Continuously threaded studs manufactured to ASTM A193 Grade B7, a chromium-molybdenum alloy steel (AISI 4140/4142) specification for high-temperature, high-pressure bolting. A polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) fluoropolymer coating is applied to the finished stud, providing a low-friction, corrosion-resistant surface. Standard supply includes the PTFE-coated stud and two ASTM A194 Grade 2H heavy hex nuts. The default topcoat colour is blue (e.g., Xylan 1070/1424 series).
Material & Mechanical Properties
Quenched and tempered to ASTM A193 Grade B7. Tensile, yield, elongation, reduction of area, and hardness values are certified per heat lot for diameters up to 4 inches. Mill test reports are available. The base metal is suitable for continuous service up to 450 °C. For sub-zero applications below –29 °C, ASTM A320 L7 should be specified. Every stud ⅜″ diameter and larger is stamped with the grade symbol “B7” and the manufacturer’s identification mark.
PTFE Coating
The PTFE fluoropolymer coating delivers a dry-film lubricated surface that prevents thread galling, lowers installation torque, and allows clean disassembly after extended service. It provides high resistance to salt spray and is chemically inert to a broad range of acids, alkalis, and industrial solvents. The coating service temperature ranges from –50 °C to +210 °C, with select formulations rated to 260 °C.
Geometry, Thread & Nut Pairing
Full-length continuous thread, UN/UNC pitch to ASME B1.1, Class 2A fit. For flange bolting above 1″ diameter, 8UN is standard. Metric threads from M6 to M125 are available. Dimensional conformity to ASME B18.31.2. The matched nut is ASTM A194 Grade 2H, quenched and tempered, hardness 248–352 HB. Using a lower-grade nut will reduce joint capacity.
Application Suitability
Refinery and petrochemical piping, offshore platforms, power generation, and pressure systems where corrosion protection, consistent preload, and high-temperature strength are required. The PTFE coating also supports food and pharmaceutical installations where product build-up must be prevented and equipment cleaned without fastener disassembly.
